The beginner blogger, like the surfer, never tires of looking for the perfect wave
The curves of measurement tools like Google Analytics to analyze the traffic of a blog can be as exciting as the waves on the beach in Hawaii are for a surfer. The beginner blogger is obsessed with generating tsunamis of visits to his blog. He is always looking for the next perfect wave to generate a new peak in his statistics. This strategy is totally understandable. In my case, it took me almost.

I confess that it is exciting to generate a spike in your blog statistics. In the beginning, it was my main motivation to publish the next article. It took me a while to realize that spikes are not what really make your blog grow. You have to stop obsessing about visits and start attracting readers.
The channels that generate high traffic curves are not typically those that show a high affinity towards your content. One blog that I used to attract visitors in this way was a training blog. The type of content that generated spikes were posts with humorous related videos. These articles worked well for a wide audience, but the rest of the posts related to training in general did not manage to attract this type of user.
I have changed my mindset since then. Mount Everest is not climbed in a day either. You have to go step by step. The more you want to climb it, the slower you go and the harder each step becomes. The important thing is to move forward and not stop. Publish articles on your blog as if there were no tomorrow. Surfing is cool but if you want to have a blog that gets visibility you have to start becoming a mountaineer.
